Places to Visit in Vaishali

The city is named after King Vishal, even before the advent of Buddhism and Jainism. This is a place where Buddha sermonizes before his death. Very few people know about the early history of Vaishali. King Ashoka who convert to Buddhism, took a pledge to solve the problems by erecting pillars that rose 50 feet into the sky. The pillars are produced using various kinds of stone one from the shaft and another for the capital. The pillar is topped by an inverted lotus flower and a single lion. Only 19 of the original pillars survive and many are broken. The Vishwa Shanti Stupa is an attractive and yet peaceful place white in colour, built by Japan. Statues of Lord Buddha in golden colour in many forms are established here. The place is so natural in colours and the aura of the stupa is so satisfying, and beautiful. The serenity of this place is very soothing.
